Writers' Competition
To encourage the art of writing, we hold an annual competition. The categories include poems or short stories by:
* Students in Grades 1-3 * Students in Grades 4-6
* Students in Grades 7-8 * Students in Grades 9-12 * Adults

Categories

Students in Grades 1-3

* Write a poem or a short story about your favourite PET or TOY. ( 1-2 pages)
Describe the PET or TOY and tell why you like it. Include a picture.

Students in Grades 4-6

* Interview a member of your family and tell their story. (max 400 words)
OR
* Write a poem about the environment.

Students in Grades 7-8

* Write a short story entitled: “Becoming a Teenager”
OR
* Write a short story entitled: “My greatest Adventure in Childhood”. (max 500 words)
OR
* Write a blog on a subject that you feel strongly about. (max 500 words)

Students in Grades 9-12

* Write an essay entitled: “Leadership”. Explain what you think are the most important qualities for a leader in school, politics or in the world. (max 500 words)
O R
*Write an essay entitled: “Where I see myself in ten years”. (max 500 words)
OR
* Write a poem on climate change.

Adults

* Write an essay entitled: “The Most Important Federal Election Issue”. (max 500 words)
OR
* Write an essay entitled: “If I knew then what I know now”. (max 500 words)
OR
* Write a poem entitled: “Our Changing World”.
Entry Information

Deadline for entries: Sat. May 7, 2011
Include your name, address, phone # and e-mail address (where applicable), age category, and topic.
Hard copies can be submitted to The Tweed News (Att. Shannon Binder-Bray) 242 Victoria St., Tweed, ON., K0K 3J0
