T&AAC NEWS
August 2010

Our sound system is now at the arts centre and tested, thanks to Jeff Young and the Young Family. We are just awaiting a snake (connecting cable) so that the console can be placed at the back off the theatre. I am setting up an evening with Jeff so he can instruct me how to use the equipment. I would like any one else who is interested to come and learn the ropes. I don't want to be the only one. I'll keep you posted as to the date - tentatively Thursday, Sept. 9, 6:30 p.m. If you are interested, call me at 613-478-2747.

We now have a projector, lap top and screen for film showings. I have downloaded several classic films and cartoons and will be testing the equipment at the centre soon. I'll let you know when so you can come and participate. Hopefully, we can start matinees (or evenings) soon for a nominal charge. All of the films are in the public domain so there is no copyright infringement in showing them.

All of the light bulbs in the facility (except those in the fans) have now been replaced with energy efficient bulbs through the Power Savings Blitz campaign - all free. Should reduce our power bill a bit.

The side driveway is now paved and ready to accept a wheelchair ramp. This should be built and installed at some point in September.

'Alberta Young Memorial Jamboree' CD's (Live at the Marble Church Arts Centre) are available around town - Municipal Office, Home Hardware, Bush, Tweed News, Food Company, Golf Course, Legion - for $15 each, $10 of which goes to the Arts Council.

Don't forget - the Jack Vance Classic golf tournament is Sunday, August 29th. Players are still needed. Contact Meriel Child at meriel253@live.com or 613-478-3614 asap.

The AGM is Monday, September 27 at 7 P.M. at the Marble Church Arts Centre. Encourage competent, enthusiastic people you may know to get nominated to stand for the board.
