Twenty artists and crafters showed their talented work at
Tweed Memorial Park on the
weekend as part of the annual
Art in the Park.
The annual arts and crafts show on the shores of Stoco Lake is a great way for artists to show their works and for people to be able to purchase one of a kind pieces of art that can brighten up their homes. The show featured approximately the same nurmber of artists as the previous year with some new artists this year. Organizers were pleased with the turn out of people looking at |
all of the arts and crafts while
enjoying the entertainment.
The weather was ideal for the two day art and craft show with sun on Saturday and threatening on Sunday, but it failed to materialize and it turned out to be a good day. Maril Swan, co-organizer of Art in the Park, explained that the organizing committee is looking at doing something different for next year, however, they will discuss the changes as a group. She noted that people enjoyed the show overlooking the Lake and the artists also liked the atmosphere the park brings. |
Some of the items on display
included: wood carvings,
jewelry, watercolours, chainsaw
carvings and stained g1ass.
Swan also explained that the
childrens' program was busy
throughout both days with
children developing their own
works of art.
Swan reiterated that the organizers were pleased with the weekend and that the good lakeside atmosphere helped with the sales of the art a crafts. by RODGER HANNA/The Tweed News |
