ABOUT EDNA

I have been painting pictures for the past 40 years, off and on, especially of places I have been to around the world.

I first started when I was given a box of oil pastels and painted a picture from a photograph. I was hooked. I was so pleased with what I produced that I continued for a while, until life got in the way. I was 14 years old. That is very long ago.

When I found the time I fitted myself out with oil paint and brushes and continued to paint. Where I worked, in Toronto, I would show my co-workers my work and they in turn, asked for me to paint them a picture, so I got commissioned.

I have had an art showing at the Heritage Centre in Tweed many years ago. I have also taught a children's arts and crafts course after school through Loyalist College.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I am self taught and have read many books about different techniques that I can apply to my work, but mostly, I experiment with brush and pallet knife, until I achieve the right effect.

I try to paint as realistically as possible especially since I like painting wildlife and landscape scenes. The odd time I will get super creative and just apply the paint at random.
